Despite Uganda having a comprehensive legal and constitutional framework that guarantees fundamental rights and freedoms, many citizens remain unaware of these protections or lack practical means to access justice. Common challenges include land disputes, domestic violence, child neglect, gender-based violence, inheritance conflicts, unlawful evictions, labour disputes, family disagreements, discrimination, and violations of children's and women's rights. These issues are further compounded by poverty, illiteracy, lengthy court procedures, high legal costs, corruption, and limited availability of legal services in rural communities.

The programme adopts a preventative and empowerment-based approach by combining legal education, community legal aid, mediation, human rights advocacy, child protection, women's empowerment, and strategic partnerships with government institutions, legal professionals, civil society organizations, and development partners. Through this integrated approach, the Foundation aims to create legally empowered communities capable of resolving disputes peacefully, preventing human rights abuses, and contributing to social cohesion and sustainable development.

The Foundation intends to establish Community Legal Aid Clinics that provide free or subsidized legal services to vulnerable individuals who cannot afford professional legal representation.

Mobile legal clinics will regularly visit remote communities where access to legal services is limited.
